Angola joins UN Tourism platform to spur $3 bn investment in tourism

Angola unveiled a new strategic guide called “Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Angola” at the Global Tourism Forum Angola Investment Summit in Luanda. The roadmap highlights a 28 % rise in international arrivals in 2025, tax incentives, visa‑free entry for 98 countries and the new Dr. Agostinho Neto International Airport, projecting $3 billion of foreign direct investment in tourism for 2025.

On 3 November, Angola signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UN Tourism to become a co‑founder of the UNT‑PASS platform, a global UN‑led mechanism that prepares and promotes tourism projects to institutional investors. The agreement was signed by Tourism Minister Márcio Daniel and UN Tourism Secretary‑General Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais at the 69th UN Tourism Regional Commission meeting in Mahé, Seychelles. The initiative aims to attract private capital, improve project visibility and support Angola’s economic diversification away from hydrocarbons.
