Angola Pushes Oil Output After OPEC Exit as Economy Shows New Stability

President João Lourenço said the Middle‑East conflict confirmed Angola’s decision to leave OPEC in January 2024, arguing that increasing oil production will help lower crude prices. He also highlighted the restart of works on the Lobito refinery, noting the country’s high demand for both crude and refined products.

State Minister for Economic Coordination José de Lima Massano reported that Angola is experiencing greater macro‑economic stability driven by a more diversified economy. Services now account for 46.8% of GDP, agriculture 25.2%, extractives 15.4% and manufacturing 11.7%. The non‑petroleum sector grew 5.11% in 2025, aided by tourism initiatives such as visa‑free access for over 100 countries and the promotion of the “Visit Angola – The Rhythm of Life” brand.
