Angola seeks agribusiness expansion through Brazil partnerships and mechanization
Angola is seeking to expand its agricultural sector through modernization and international partnerships, specifically with Brazil. At the Angola-Brazil Agribusiness Forum 2026 in Luanda, officials and investors discussed transitioning from research-based cooperation to a focus on productive investments, technology, and value chain development.
Angolan Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Isaac dos Anjos, highlighted the nation's vast potential, noting that while Angola possesses approximately 36 million hectares of arable land, only about 6 million are currently cultivated by families and less than 1 million by the business sector. To attract investment, the government has made roughly 800,000 hectares available for assessment.
In a related initiative, the first edition of ‘Dia do Campo’ (Field Day) was held in Quibala, Cuanza Sul province. This event focused on accelerating the renewal of agricultural and agro-food systems through mechanization, soil correction, and technical demonstrations. The initiative aimed to connect producers with suppliers, financial institutions, and technology providers to bolster food security and economic diversification.
