Angola to implement domestic submarine cable for coastal connectivity
Angola is preparing to implement a domestic submarine cable to interconnect coastal cities, aimed at strengthening the nation's telecommunications infrastructure. Announced by the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, the project is currently in the preparation phase.
The new submarine infrastructure is designed to support the national terrestrial fiber optic network, expanding coverage and improving connectivity quality across various regions. A key focus of this initiative is the Lobito Corridor, where the cable will be anchored off the coast of Benguela province to bolster digital services for growing local industries.
This project is part of a broader government strategy to expand high-quality internet access throughout the country, supporting economic and social sectors that increasingly rely on robust digital connectivity.
