Angola's Q1 GDP Grows 5.3%, Raising Growth Outlook Above 4%

Oxford Economics reports that Angola's gross domestic product expanded by 5.3% in the first quarter, surpassing its initial 3.7% forecast. The strong performance was driven mainly by the non‑oil sector, which showed notable resilience amid volatility in oil prices. Analysts say the results suggest the economy could grow at a rate exceeding 4% in 2026, though the consultancy still projects overall growth at 3.8% for the year. The outlook depends on continued diversification, stable macro‑economic conditions, and the ability to attract private investment into agriculture, manufacturing, trade, transport and services. If the current non‑oil momentum persists, a revision upward of the growth forecast may be warranted.
