South American livestock markets show strong demand and high sales

Livestock markets across Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay are showing significant activity through various breed-specific auctions and seasonal exhibitions.

In Argentina, the Angus Spring Week (Semana Angus de Primavera) has launched in Cañuelas. The event features over 300 pedigree breeders and aims to showcase the country’s Angus meat production capacity. Related auctions, such as the La Reforma spring sale in Ayacucho, and the ExpoBra in Santiago del Estero—where the El Estribo ranch secured top honors—highlight a strong focus on genetic quality.

In Paraguay, the livestock sector is seeing a recovery in market firmness. The Noche Ganadera event organized by Bancop and El Rodeo Consignataria sold over 2,950 cattle, totaling G. 15,400 million. Additionally, Everdem is conducting virtual auctions for weaning and breeding categories, noting a favorable price relationship between replacement and fattening cattle.

In Uruguay, the Brangus Elite auction at Expo Prado saw a total sell-out, driven by high demand for elite genetics and embryos. Meanwhile, Plaza Rural is preparing to auction over 15,000 cattle and 699 sheep, supported by financing from BROU.
