Aného to host 11th Festival des Divinités Noires in 2027
The 11th edition of the Festival des Divinités Noires is scheduled to take place from January 21 to 24, 2027, in Aného and the sacred forest of Glidji, Togo. Organized by the Association des Connaissances Fondées dans l’Identité Noire (Acofin), the event celebrates the spiritual traditions of the Guin people and aims to strengthen ties between African traditions and Afro-descendant communities.
Côte d’Ivoire will serve as the guest of honor for the 2027 edition, with specific recognition for the city of Kouto. Brazil is also expected to participate. The festival program will feature traditional music, dance, rituals of initiatory societies, and conferences focused on ancestral religions.
The announcement follows the 20th anniversary of the festival, which was established in 2006 to preserve African heritage and combat prejudices against traditional religions. To ensure cultural transmission to younger generations, organizers are considering the “Journée Acofin” initiative to integrate cultural education into school programs within the Lacs prefecture.
