Peru infrastructure projects drive non-mining private investment
Peru is seeing a significant boost in non-mining private investment, driven largely by major infrastructure projects. The Central Reserve Bank reported that non-residential investment grew by 22.5% in the second quarter, fueled by transport projects such as Lima Metro Line 2 and the IIRSA North and South initiatives.
In a major development for urban connectivity, the Anillo Vial de Lima y Callao project has secured up to US$190 million in financing for land acquisition and property release. This funding, which will support Trams 1 and 3, is backed by BBVA (Spain), MUFG Bank (Japan), and COFIDE (Peru). The project aims to benefit over 4.5 million people by improving mobility between Lima and Callao.
In the residential sector, new home sales in Lima grew by 25% in the first quarter. However, data from LIDZ.ai indicates that 87% of potential buyers seek guidance on the complex purchasing process—such as bank documentation and down payment requirements—rather than just product specifications.
