Animal health initiatives and veterinary enforcement reported in Spain and Mexico

In Cájar, Spain, the local government conducted a rabies vaccination campaign organized by the Department of Animal Protection and Welfare. Between June 13 and July 11, more than twenty pets were vaccinated by veterinarian Alejandro Platt as part of a public health and responsible pet ownership initiative.

In Tizayuca, Mexico, municipal authorities from the Municipal Animal Control and Welfare Center (Cecobam) intercepted two individuals allegedly administering unauthorized veterinary products. The intervention revealed that the individuals lacked professional credentials and were storing biological products at room temperature without proper refrigeration.

Authorities also seized deworming products with altered labels and rabies vaccines that do not appear in official state sanitary databases. The group was issuing unofficial vaccination certificates under the name ‘Aranda Pets’ for fees ranging from 20 to 50 pesos. Officials reminded citizens that official rabies vaccinations provided by the health sector are free and urged the public to report irregularities.
