The following day, municipalities across Spain announced expanded cat sterilization initiatives using the Capture‑Sterilisation‑Return (CER) method. Towns allocated budgets ranging from €10,000 to €179,000, set targets for colony sterilization, and responded to a summer surge in pet abandonments, urging stronger municipal support and enforcement.
