Animal welfare incidents reported in Argentina and Colombia

Authorities in Oberá, Argentina, have detained a 34-year-old man following reports of animal cruelty against a puppy named Simba. The arrest occurred after neighbors reported aggressive behavior and shared videos of the abuse. Simba has been removed from the residence for his safety and is currently under temporary care while awaiting adoption.

In Colombia, animal rights defender Melisa Rodríguez has called for urgent intervention in La Ciénaga, Magdalena, following the emergence of a video allegedly showing the sexual abuse and mistreatment of a cat. Rodríguez expressed concern that the individual involved may have other animals at risk under their care.

Additionally, the foundation Humanimal Rescatando Vidas in Colombia is seeking a new home for Samy, a 10-year-old dog. The request comes because Samy’s longtime caregiver has been diagnosed with cancer and can no longer provide the necessary care for the senior dog, who requires assistance with weight management.
