Animal welfare incidents reported in San Marino and Italy
In San Marino, two extremely young kittens were discovered abandoned inside a plastic bag within a trash bin near the State Hospital parking lot. Citizens alerted the Interforce Operations Center after hearing faint meowing. The kittens were found dehydrated and wet, requiring human assistance for feeding to survive their delicate condition. The APAS organization intends to file a formal complaint for animal abandonment under Article 323 ter of the Sammarinese Penal Code, which carries penalties including fines of at least 4,000 euros and potential imprisonment.
In a separate local matter in Minori, Italy, two kittens named Lina and Rambo are seeking adoption. The pair, described as well-behaved and calm, are the last remaining members of a large litter available for placement. They are currently located in the municipality of Minori.
