Animal welfare initiatives expand across Latin American municipalities

Various municipalities and national agencies across Latin America are implementing programs to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through free veterinary services.

In Argentina, the Municipality of Tafí Viejo is conducting awareness campaigns regarding animal cruelty laws, while San Miguel de Tucumán has launched a digital platform to allow residents to schedule free sterilization appointments for cats and dogs.

In Paraguay, the National Directorate of Animal Defense, Health and Welfare is offering a dedicated email channel for low-income families to request free sterilization services. Similarly, in Mexico, the Municipality of Amozoc has held mass sterilization jornadas to improve public health and control pet populations.

In Colombia, the Municipality of El Carmen de Viboral, in coordination with the Government of Antioquia, recently completed a mass welfare event that benefited over 160 animals through sterilization to prevent abandonment and disease.
