ANIMASYROS 2026 animation festival begins in Syros

The 19th edition of the ANIMASYROS animation festival is taking place in Hermoupolis, Syros, running through September 27. As one of Europe’s top animation events, the festival features over 280 films from 50 countries across seven competitive categories, including international, student, and national competitions.

This year’s edition honors the 200th anniversary of Hermoupolis. In recognition of the Irish Presidency of the European Union, Ireland is the festival’s honored country, celebrating its creative animation scene.

In collaboration with the Cyclades Chamber of Commerce, the festival is expanding its reach beyond Syros. For the third consecutive year, screenings will travel to seven other Cycladic islands: Andros, Milos, Mykonos, Naxos, Paros, Santorini, and Tinos. The program includes workshops, international collaborations, and an industry market serving as a hub for the Eastern Mediterranean animation sector.
