Aniplex announces release details for Madoka Magica movie

Aniplex has announced details regarding the upcoming theatrical release of ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Ascending’, scheduled for August 28, 2026.

To celebrate the release, two types of visitor benefits will be distributed. The first is a ‘Magica Quartet Special Shikishi’ featuring signatures from director Akiyuki Akiyuki, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi, and character designer Ume Aoki, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, weekly rotating benefits will be provided, starting with random mini-shikishi-style cards illustrated by Ume Aoki during the first week.

Events surrounding the launch include a live viewing of the opening ceremony held at Shinjuku Wald 9 on August 29, which will be broadcast to cinemas nationwide. Furthermore, select theaters will host earliest screenings starting at midnight on the release date, August 28.
