Ankara adds 20 new buses, total trips hit 6.2 million

Ankara Büyükşehir Belediyesi expanded the city’s public‑transport fleet with 20 new OTOKAR Kent LF diesel buses. The delivery includes ten 12‑metre solo buses with 70 seats and ten 18‑metre articulated buses with 150 seats, all equipped with wheelchair‑access ramps, onboard information screens, camera security systems and electronic suspension.

The increased fleet brings the total number of EGO buses operating in Ankara to 1,999, part of a broader plan that will add 569 new vehicles between 2019 and 2026. For the week of 13–19 July 2026, EGO reported 6,195,739 passenger trips across buses, metro lines M1‑M4 and the ANKARAY. Bus trips numbered 3,693,499, while rail‑based services carried 2,502,240 riders. The busiest day saw 702,522 bus passengers on 16 July, and a free‑fare service was provided on 15 July.
