Ankara drives over 40% of Turkey's export growth in H1 2026
The Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) released its Export Evaluation Report for January–June 2026, showing that Ankara contributed more than 40% of the increase in Turkey's total exports during the first half of the year. Turkey’s overall export value rose by $4.7 billion to $136.1 billion, while Ankara’s export volume jumped 27.5% to $9.1 billion.
Key sectors behind the surge were electronics, which grew 65.7% to exceed $1 billion, and automotive, up 30.7% to $1.01 billion. The defense and aviation industry accounted for 29.5% of Ankara’s export basket, highlighting the city’s high‑technology focus. ASO president Seyit Ardıç attributed the performance to a transformation in production capacity and urged the spread of defence‑technology know‑how to more firms and markets.
The report also listed Ankara’s top export destinations as the United States, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and China, and emphasized the strategic importance of expanding into new markets.
