Ankara expands cultural heritage projects through historic restorations
Cultural preservation efforts are expanding in Ankara through the restoration and repurposing of historical structures. In the Gölbaşı district, the Halaçlı Mehmet Ağa Mansion, recently restored by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, is hosting art events. A recent painting workshop was organized in collaboration with the Tohumluk Foundation, featuring artist Hikmet Çetinkaya.
Simultaneously, the Çankaya Municipality has launched a project to transform the historic Mehmet Kınacı Vineyard House in the Ayrancı neighborhood into a museum. This initiative, part of the Çankaya Heritage project, was made possible through a 25-year free allocation agreement with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. The planned museum aims to showcase Ankara’s social history, including daily life, traditional professions, and historical documents, supported by research from scholars and collectors.
