Ankara: Father kills daughter and her partner

A man identified as Bülent Kesen, a local neighborhood headman, allegedly shot and killed his 19-year-old daughter, Elif Kesen, and her 53-year-old partner, Ercan Oruç, in the Mamak district of Ankara.

The incident occurred on October 30 at the entrance of an apartment building. Reports indicate that Kesen went to the residence to confront his daughter regarding her relationship with Oruç, a married hairdresser. Following an argument, Kesen opened fire with a handgun, resulting in the deaths of both individuals.

In his initial statement to police, Kesen claimed he only intended to speak with his daughter but lost control and committed the killings after Oruç allegedly insulted him. A witness reported that Kesen stated he had “cleaned his honor” before surrendering to the authorities.

Authorities are conducting an investigation, and an autopsy is expected to clarify whether Elif Kesen was pregnant at the time of her death.
