Ankara-Konya high-speed rail line reaches 22.8 million passengers

Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that the Ankara-Konya High-Speed Train (YHT) line has served 22.8 million passengers since its inauguration on August 23, 2011.

Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted that the line, which was the country’s second high-speed rail project following the Ankara-Eskişehir route, has significantly improved regional connectivity. Before the direct connection was established, rail travel between Ankara and Konya required traveling via Eskişehir and Afyonkarahisar, a journey that exceeded 10 hours. The high-speed line has reduced this travel time to under 2 hours.

Currently, the line sees an average daily ridership of approximately 3,500 passengers. The route has also integrated with other high-speed networks, strengthening Konya’s position as a transit hub with connections toward Istanbul and Karaman.
