Ankara secures $500 million for major water infrastructure projects

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has secured approximately $500 million in long-term international financing for three major water infrastructure projects. These initiatives are part of the 2054 Ankara Master Plan and have been approved by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

The investment is divided into three primary areas:

- $306.3 million for the Ankara Central (Tatlar) Wastewater Treatment Plant, which aims to increase daily capacity from 765,000 cubic meters to 1.35 million cubic meters. - $90 million for drinking water supply projects in the Güdül, Beypazarı, Ayaş, and Çayırhan (Nallıhan) regions. - $84.4 million to reduce water loss and leakage throughout the Ankara metropolitan area.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş stated that these projects are designed to address future population growth and the impacts of climate change, ensuring long-term water security and sustainable management for the capital.
