Ankara University hosts sky observation event at Kreiken Observatory

Sky enthusiasts gathered at Ankara University’s Alper Gezeravcı Astronomy and Space Sciences Campus for the ‘Science Cafe’ event held at the Kreiken Observatory. Participants observed meteors with the naked eye, used telescopes to examine celestial bodies, and attended presentations and talks by astronomers.

During the event, astronomers explained that the Perseid meteor shower is linked to particles left behind by the Swift-Tuttle comet. University officials noted that these observation programs are vital components of the institution’s community science activities, aiming to increase public awareness and provide opportunities for citizens to learn about astronomy directly from scientists.
