Ankara‑Skopje direct flight launches on July 2

A new nonstop airline route between Ankara and Skopje will begin operations on 2 July, flown by Turkish carrier AJet. Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski said the service is being introduced without state subsidies and is expected to be financially viable, adding that Turkish Airlines already serves Ohrid.

During a business forum in Istanbul, Nikoloski also announced a rail cargo connection between the two countries and highlighted growing interest from Turkish firms to invest in Macedonia. He said the partnership could lift bilateral trade from the current roughly $900 million to about $2 billion, citing the EU free‑trade agreement and strong US ties as incentives.
