Şanlıurfa crash kills two, wounds six
A head‑on collision between two cars occurred near Yanaloba Mahallesi, between the Suruç and Birecik districts of Şanlıurfa Province, Turkey. The crash killed Hasan Ataş and Ayşe Ataş and injured six people, including several Iranian nationals. Emergency crews – ambulances, fire, police and gendarmerie – were dispatched to the scene, and the road was closed for several hours while the victims were taken to Suruç State Hospital.
The drivers of the vehicles, identified as Baran Y. (41 SC 329) and Duygo A. (01 AVY 419), were involved in a head‑on impact. A passing female driver who assisted the injured repeatedly shouted “Kill me” in shock. Local authorities, including Suruç District Governor Adem Balkanoğlu, arrived at the site, and a formal investigation into the cause of the accident has been launched.
