Health authorities investigate neonatal deaths and issue product bans

In Argentina, the National Administration of Drugs, Foods and Medical Technology (ANMAT) has issued several sanitary prohibitions. The agency banned all Qualibest brand cleaning products—including disinfectants, deodorizers, and surface finishers—due to a lack of valid sanitary registrations. Additionally, ANMAT prohibited specific batches of the injectable iron Yectafer (lotes 1-R0730 and 2-R0730) following a reported theft at Dalban Pharma S.A., and the medication Hessico.

In the Dominican Republic, health authorities are investigating a series of neonatal deaths at the Maternidad Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia in the Distrito Nacional. Reports indicate 31 deaths occurred between July and August, with some cases linked to Klebsiella and Serratia bacteria. Vice President Raquel Peña stated that the National Health Service (SNS) and the Ministry of Public Health are conducting an exhaustive investigation into the matter.

Separately, in Venezuela, the Autonomous Sanitary Control Service (SACS) issued an alert regarding counterfeit Perjeta Pertuzumab (420mg/14ml) cancer treatment, noting that the affected lot JNB824 does not exist in Roche's official manufacturing records.
