Ann Widdecombe funeral details announced at Buckfast Abbey

Details have been released regarding the funeral of former politician Ann Widdecombe. A private requiem mass will be held on Wednesday at Buckfast Abbey in Devon, where the 78-year-old was a regular worshipper. The service will include a homily from the Abbot of Buckfast, the Rt Rev David Charlesworth.

Ms. Widdecombe, who served as a Conservative MP, prisons minister, and later as a spokeswoman for Reform UK, died on July 8. She was killed at her home in Haytor on Dartmoor, Devon. Joshua Kerry, 28, was charged with her murder on July 20.

A statement from Buckfast Abbey described her as a “woman of profound faith” and a “dedicated public servant” with a “sharp intellect.” A public memorial is expected to be held later this year.
