UK Counter-Terror Police Reopen Burglary Probe Linked to Ann Widdecombe Murder
British Counter‑Terrorism Policing has reopened an investigation into an attempted burglary reported in April 2025 at a Greater London address. The review is being conducted as part of the murder inquiry into former minister and Reform UK spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe, who was found dead at her Dartmoor home on 9 July after being struck with a hammer.
Suspect Joshua Kerry, 28, was charged with Widdecombe’s murder on 20 July. Counter‑Terrorism Policing London said it has now identified a line of inquiry that was not pursued during the original burglary investigation, which had resulted in no arrests and was closed pending new leads. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has opened a separate investigation into the conduct of a Counter‑Terrorism Policing staff member alleged to have failed to identify and pursue that line of inquiry. Police have not disclosed how the burglary case may be connected to the murder.
