Venice Film Festival features new works by Stéphane Brizé and Anna Foglietta

At the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, director Stéphane Brizé presented ‘A Good Little Soldier’ (Un bon petit soldat) in competition. Starring Alba Rohrwacher, the film explores the dehumanization of the modern workplace through the eyes of a high-level HR executive navigating a toxic, performance-driven corporate environment. Brizé described the film as an investigation into how individuals, particularly women, must conform to patriarchal and brutal systemic rules to succeed.

Additionally, actress Anna Foglietta made her directorial debut in the Orizzonti section with ‘Una storia’. The film, starring Alba Rohrwacher and Guido Caprino, examines the emotional shifts within a family as a couple faces the ‘empty nest syndrome’ after their daughter leaves home. The production received support from various entities, including Rai Cinema and the Italian Ministry of Culture.

In recognition of his work, Stéphane Brizé was also awarded the Special Award of the Premio Film Impresa 2026 during the festival ceremonies.
