Anna Foglietta and Stéphane Brizé at Venice Film Festival

At the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, actress Anna Foglietta made her directorial debut with the film ‘Una storia’, presented in the Orizzonti section. Starring Alba Rohrwacher and Guido Caprino, the marital drama follows Erika and Mauro, a provincial couple whose lives are disrupted when their daughter leaves for university. The film explores how the resulting domestic silence triggers a crisis, forcing the characters to confront neglected desires and unspoken fragilities. Foglietta, whose previous work includes ‘Nessuno mi può giudicare’, described the transition from acting to directing as a significant professional evolution and a step toward “human and feminist growth.” The production of ‘Una storia’ received support from Rai Cinema and the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The festival also featured the work of director Stéphane Brizé, who presented ‘A Good Little Soldier’ (Un bon petit soldat) in competition. Starring Alba Rohrwacher, the film examines the dehumanization of the modern workplace through an HR executive navigating a toxic corporate environment. Brizé described the film as an investigation into how individuals, particularly women, must conform to “patriarchal and brutal systemic rules” to succeed. During the festival ceremonies, Brizé was honored with the Special Award of the Premio Film Impresa 2026.

Alba Rohrwacher, appearing in both featured films, showcased several Prada ensembles on the red carpet, including a white cotton Oxford blouse with a black tech satin tube skirt and a green strapless top with a navy pleated midi skirt. The festival also served as a platform for other Italian fashion, with Orizzonti juror Barbara Ronchi in Louis Vuitton, singer Levante in archival Giorgio Armani, and Anna Ferzetti in Gucci accessories.
