Anna Foglietta debuts as director with ‘Una storia’

Una storia marks the directorial debut of Italian actress Anna Foglietta. The drama, co-written with Tania Pedroni and Matteo Ferri, follows a long-married couple, Erika (Alba Rohrwacher) and Mauro (Guido Caprino), living in a provincial Italian town.

The narrative explores the slow erosion of their relationship after their daughter leaves for university. Erika, a supermarket cashier, struggles with a loss of purpose after years of focusing on caretaking, while Mauro, an electrician, faces a deep personal crisis following the loss of his job.

Structured in four chapters corresponding to the seasons, the film depicts the couple's changing dynamics through a year of solitude and shifting roles. The production is supported by HT Film, Indigo Film, and Tenderstories.
