Greek athletes perform strongly at European Championships

Greek athletes are making significant impacts at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris. Anna Dountounaki set a new Greek national record in the 100m butterfly semifinals with a time of 56.99 seconds, becoming the first Greek woman to break the 57-second barrier. In the subsequent final, Dountounaki finished in 4th place with a time of 57.10, narrowly missing a medal. Georgia Damasioti also competed in the 100m butterfly final, finishing in 8th place.

Other notable Greek performances include Apostolos Christou, who competed in the 50m backstroke final, and Artemis Vasilaki, who reached the 1500m freestyle final. In athletics, Elina Tzengko qualified for the javelin throw final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, recording a throw of 59.82 meters.

In the pole vault, Greek athlete Katerina Stefanidi secured a 6th place finish at the European Championships in Birmingham with a height of 4.60 meters.
