Annunziata Hospital staff face rising aggression in Cosenza

The Cisl FP union has issued a formal complaint regarding an escalation of verbal threats, aggression, and psychological pressure against healthcare staff at the Annunziata Hospital in Cosenza. Giuseppe Bonasso, the union's local secretary, described the situation as an “unacceptable escalation” affecting nurses and social-health operators.

High tension has been specifically reported in the pediatric and orthopedic departments. The union noted that staff are facing daily intimidation from impatient visitors and patients' relatives. A significant point of conflict involves the responsibility of managing visitor flows and enforcing visiting hours, which often falls on medical staff and leads to dangerous confrontations.

To address these safety concerns, the union is calling on hospital management to increase security presence. They are requesting that security guards perform regular rounds, ensure ward doors are closed, and escort visitors out of the facility once visiting hours have ended to relieve medical personnel of these duties.
