Answear.com apologizes for controversial striped children's clothing imagery

The online retailer Answear.com has issued an apology and withdrawn controversial product imagery following intense social media backlash. The controversy arose from a product photo featuring a child wearing a blue striped outfit from the brand Tinycottons. Internet users pointed out that the vertical stripes closely resembled the clothing worn by prisoners in Nazi concentration camps.

Answear clarified that while the Tinycottons brand produced the items, the specific styling of the full outfit was prepared by the retailer. The company noted that only the 'Blue Retro' pants were intended for sale, rather than the complete set shown in the photograph.

In an official statement, Answear apologized, stating that the presentation of the product was not intended to reference concentration camp symbolism or to gain attention through controversy. The company has since removed the photos of the child from its platform, leaving only images of the pants themselves.
