Antalya Chamber of Commerce implements xeriscaping to conserve water

The Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) has implemented a xeriscaping project at its service building garden to promote water efficiency and sustainable landscaping. The initiative was inspected by technical personnel from the Antalya Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, who recognized the project as a model for reducing irrigation needs.

Designed to suit Antalya’s hot and arid climate, the project focuses on minimizing water consumption through strategic plant selection and controlled irrigation. The landscaping utilizes drought-resistant plant species with low to medium water requirements, while traditional grass areas have been limited to prioritize water-efficient vegetation.

ATSO Chairman Yusuf Hacısüleyman emphasized that the project is a concrete step toward managing water resources amidst climate change, stating, “Protecting water is not a matter of today, but a matter of the future.” The implementation includes the creation of different irrigation zones to ensure water is delivered only where needed, preventing unnecessary loss.
