World Cleanup Day activities held across various Turkish regions

Various municipalities and non-governmental organizations across Turkey participated in widespread environmental cleanup activities to observe World Cleanup Day. 20 September was officially designated as World Cleanup Day by the United Nations.

In Antalya, officials and volunteers conducted a coastal cleanup at Manavgat Ulualan Beach to protect local ecosystems, including habitats for sea turtles and migratory birds. In Kocaeli, approximately 500 volunteers and 13 divers collected 1 ton of waste from the Körfez Tütünçiftlik coast. In Istanbul, 400 volunteers at Moda Beach collected 435 kilograms of waste.

Other regional efforts included a four-day mobilization in İnegöl involving students and local businesses, and extensive cleaning of parks and streets in Iğdır. In Kayseri, Kocasinan Municipality emphasized the importance of environmental awareness for future generations. Organizations such as TURMEPA, TEMA Foundation, and Let’s Do It Türkiye coordinated many of these efforts to promote sustainability and combat pollution.
