Antalya Elderly Woman Saved from Phone Scam by Daughter

In Antalya, Turkey, an elderly resident, Hacer Özkan, received a call from someone posing as a police officer. The caller, claiming to act on a prosecutor’s instruction, asked her to confirm personal identification details and threatened that even the president could not protect her. He also referenced alleged ties to the FETÖ terrorist organization and demanded information about recent property and banking transactions.

Özkan's daughter, who was present, recognized the conversation as a fraud attempt. She recorded the call, prevented her mother from providing money or personal data, and intervened when the scammer tried to intimidate her mother further. The daughter’s prompt action stopped the scam, and the mother plans to report the incident to the police.

The incident highlights ongoing telephone fraud targeting vulnerable seniors, with scammers using impersonation of law‑enforcement officials and political references to create urgency.
