Antalya faces 35 °C coastal heat and up to 10‑meter snow in mountain plateau

In June, Antalya’s coastal district of Konyaaltı saw temperatures rise to 35 °C with humidity around 70 %, making the felt temperature feel equally hot. Sea water warmed to 27 °C and the beach became crowded with local residents and foreign tourists, many of whom swam or paraglidered over the shoreline. One visitor, Coşkun Özgül, remarked, “Antalya ya yaz çok geç geldi… Şu anda 33 derece sıcaklık var, sahilde bayağı bir kalabalık.”

At the same time, the high‑altitude Susambeli Plateau in Gündoğmuş district, situated at 2,600 m, retained winter conditions with snow depths ranging from 8 to 10 meters. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality crews used heavy machinery to clear the main mountain road, reopening about 60 km of route while planning to clear the remaining 10 km within a week. Meteorological authorities warned that coastal temperatures are likely to continue rising in the coming days.
