Turkey infrastructure upgrades – Late July 2026

Entities: Abdulkadir Uraloğlu · Kemer municipality · Fatih Taşlı · Tatvan Çevre Yolu · Mehmet Öntürk

Overview

The nationwide road‑repair programme continued to expand in the last week of July. In Bitlis, the 10.2‑km Tatvan Çevre Yolu nears completion, with the second tunnel slated for finish later this year and the highway opening in 2027. The project includes a 235‑m viaduct and multiple bridges that should halve district traffic and serve Van, Diyarbakır, Bitlis and Siirt.

Municipal works in the Aegean and Mediterranean regions were finalised. Denizli’s Gürlek‑TOKİ corridor received 2,500 t of hot asphalt, 6,500 t of cement‑stabilised base, new 3‑m sidewalks, 4,500 m² of paving stones and a 280‑m retaining wall. Antalya’s public works widened the Gazi Boulevard bridge to three lanes, added a four‑lane crossing, expanded Dumlupınar Boulevard, resurfaced asphalt, upgraded sidewalks and installed motor‑bike‑friendly barriers.

Across the country, temporary traffic adjustments accompanied ongoing highway repairs: Ankara’s Natoyolu was closed for metro works; sections of the O‑4, TEM and İzmir‑Aydın motorways faced lane closures; regional projects in Bilecik, Şırnak, Konya, Adana and the TAG motorway operated under controlled traffic.

Municipal budgets also grew. Düzce allocated 400 million TL for 2026 asphalt works and 100 million TL for sidewalks; Hatay’s August programme targets 85 sites, aiming to maintain 2,704 km of roads. Kars resumed hot‑asphalt resurfacing of key streets, and Antalya’s Kemer district began a 50‑km water‑sewer upgrade, installing 10 km of pipe and new concrete water tanks.

These activities build on earlier resurfacing of the Konya‑Istanbul and Konya‑Afyonkarahisar corridors and various local upgrades, sustaining the accelerated pace of Turkey’s infrastructure improvement.
