Antalya Municipality distributes beneficial insects to farmers

The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality is distributing beneficial insects to farmers across 800 decares of land along the coast to support pomegranate and citrus production. Managed by the Department of Agricultural Services, the program provides predator and parasitoid species to combat plant pests naturally.

The initiative aims to reduce the use of chemical pesticides, thereby protecting human health, soil, and water resources. By implementing biological and biotechnological control methods, the municipality seeks to lower input costs for farmers and prevent chemical residue issues in both domestic and export markets. Local producers have expressed support for the program, noting its effectiveness in managing pests like mealybugs and whiteflies.
