Antalya ramps up infrastructure for COP31, expecting over 100,000 attendees

Turkey’s Mediterranean city of Antalya is undertaking extensive infrastructure upgrades ahead of the 77th International Space Congress and the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31). Local AK Party leader Ali Çetin announced that more than 100,000 participants will be accommodated, prompting road expansions, new pavilions and permanent facilities in the Aksu and Serik districts.

The city’s Muratpaşa municipality, together with the Social Climate Association, launched a youth program that brought together over 150 students to develop climate‑policy proposals for COP31. Mayor Ümit Uysal highlighted local initiatives such as the “Green Neighbour Card” as models for national implementation.

At the COP31 Business Forum in Ankara’s TOBB Twin Towers, KUTSO President Esin Güral Argat called for a national standardised data platform to help small and medium‑sized enterprises meet sustainability reporting requirements, stressing the need for public‑private cooperation in the green transition.
