Antalya readies water infrastructure for COP31 summit

The Antalya Water and Sewerage Administration (ASAT) is upgrading the city’s drinking‑water system ahead of the United Nations COP31 climate conference in November. Over the past seven years ASAT has invested about 2.4 billion TL to replace aging pipelines and reduce physical water losses in the Aksu and Serik‑Belek regions.

For the summit, a new intake line will draw roughly 120 L/s from three deep wells in Aksu’s Boztepe neighbourhood and deliver it to the expo site. Additional supply will come from the Belkis and Karadayi water plants, providing around 5 000 m³/h, and five storage tanks in Belek will be kept fully stocked. Critical mechanical and electrical systems are being revised to ensure uninterrupted service for the estimated 100 000 local and international visitors.

ASAT General Manager Cengiz Gülebay said the upgrades aim to guarantee safe, continuous drinking water throughout the event and showcase Antalya’s strengthened infrastructure to the world.
