Antalya tourism season to extend through November due to major international conferences

The tourism season in Antalya, Türkiye, is expected to extend significantly into October and November due to major international events and a strategic shift toward diversified tourism.

Key drivers include the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) scheduled for October 5-9 and the 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) in late November. Kaan Kasif Kavaloglu, president of the Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Investors’ Association (AKTOB), noted that these events are expected to increase hotel occupancy rates and showcase Türkiye’s commitment to sustainable tourism initiatives.

Industry leaders emphasize that Antalya is moving toward a 12-month tourism model by leveraging sectors beyond traditional sun-and-sea tourism, such as congress, sports, golf, health, gastronomy, and culture. This diversification, supported by strong international flight networks and favorable climate conditions, aims to create a more sustainable and year-round demand structure.
