Antalya tourism sees 11 million visitors as Russia leads arrivals
Antalya received 11,035,586 foreign tourists during the first eight months of the year. Russia remains the leading source of visitors with 2,667,000 tourists, followed by Germany with 2,083,000. The United Kingdom ranks third, having sent over 985,000 visitors.
Data from the Antalya Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism indicates that total tourist arrivals for the January-August period decreased by 5.8% compared to the same period last year. This decline is attributed to geopolitical tensions, specifically the conflicts involving Russia-Ukraine and Iran-US relations, which have impacted arrivals from CIS countries.
Despite the overall seasonal decline, August showed signs of recovery. On August 1, Antalya recorded a daily record of 103,200 foreign tourist entries across Antalya and Gazipaşa airports. Industry representatives noted that while hotel occupancy remains high, the sector faces challenges regarding rising costs and exchange rate stability.
