Antalya welcomes 14 million foreign tourists despite geopolitical challenges

Antalya has welcomed approximately 14 million foreign visitors so far this year, according to Kaan Kaşif Kavaloğlu, President of the Mediterranean Tourist Hoteliers and Operators Association. Despite geopolitical tensions, including the ongoing conflict involving Russia and Ukraine, and global economic challenges, the city continues to maintain its status as a major global hub for resort tourism.

While the number of international visitors is roughly 5% lower than last year, Kavaloğlu noted significant growth in markets such as Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Hungary. The region is also seeing a shift toward year-round tourism, with activity extending into the autumn months due to school holidays in Germany and the Netherlands, as well as more affordable pricing in October compared to the peak summer season.

Preparations are also underway in the Belek region for the COP31 event scheduled for November, which is expected to further increase international visitor numbers and activity in the city.
