Antalya wildfires destroy greenhouses and agricultural assets

Multiple wildfires have caused significant agricultural and property damage across the Antalya province in Turkey. In the Muratpaşa district, fires spreading through reed areas and wooded zones destroyed numerous glass and plastic greenhouses, agricultural lands, and storage sheds. Local farmers reported heavy losses, including the destruction of tractors and essential farming equipment.

In the Muratpaşa neighborhoods of Doğuyaka and Topçular, emergency teams including firefighters, AFAD, and police worked to contain flames that threatened livestock. While many large animals were successfully released from barns to safety, the fires caused significant distress to local residents and farmers.

In the Manavgat district, a fire—preliminarily suspected to have started from stubble burning—spread to animal shelters and storage facilities. The blaze resulted in the death of two goats and the destruction of five sheds, 4,000 hay bales, and 4 tons of fertilizer. Agricultural machinery, including plows and threshers, were also rendered unusable. Authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact causes of the various incidents.
