Anthony Joshua criticized for reckless golf buggy stunts

Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has faced intense criticism from fans and peers following social media footage of him performing dangerous stunts in golf buggies. The videos, filmed while Joshua was holidaying in the Dominican Republic, show him racing vehicles and attempting to climb between moving carts.

Boxing icon Johnny Nelson condemned the behavior as “reckless and stupid,” expressing dismay that Joshua would post such clips online. Nelson noted that the stunts were particularly concerning given Joshua’s history, recalling a fatal car accident in Nigeria in December 2025.

That accident, which occurred on a highway near Lagos, claimed the lives of two of Joshua’s close teammates and friends: strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Latif “Latz” Ayodele. Joshua survived the crash with rib injuries but has since spoken about the profound impact of the loss.
