Anthropic partners with Macquarie and GIC for AI data centers

Anthropic has announced a strategic partnership with Macquarie Asset Management and the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC to establish a new infrastructure platform called Theseus Infrastructure. The platform is designed to develop, operate, and lease data centers specifically tailored to meet the growing capacity requirements of Anthropic’s Claude AI service.

Under this arrangement, Macquarie Asset Management and GIC will own the platform and provide the majority of the equity financing for each project. Anthropic will not hold an ownership stake in the physical assets but will instead secure capacity through long-term lease agreements. While the partners intend to identify and develop new locations with an initial focus on the United States, specific details regarding investment amounts, the number of planned sites, or a definitive timeline have not been disclosed.
