Anthropic signs $35 billion cloud computing deal with Lambda

Anthropic has signed a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with Lambda, an Nvidia-supported cloud provider. The deal is designed to address Anthropic’s recent bottlenecks in securing AI compute resources.

The arrangement involves a complex infrastructure setup: Lambda will utilize data centers being developed by Hut 8 in Nueces County, Texas. Nvidia holds the lease for these data centers and has previously secured computing capacity from Hut 8. Under this structure, Lambda can deploy Nvidia chips to provide services to Anthropic without the upfront cost of acquiring its own data center space.

This transaction follows other significant compute-related deals for Anthropic, including a reported $45 billion agreement with Nscale. While Hut 8 is developing facilities for Nvidia-based chips, it is also working on separate data centers for Anthropic that will utilize Google TPUs.
