This partnership marks a strategic pivot for Riot Platforms from Bitcoin mining toward AI infrastructure services. To fund this transition amid tightening mining margins, Riot sold 4,300 Bitcoin during its second quarter, reducing its treasury from 15,680 BTC to 11,380 BTC. Following the announcement, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley both raised their price targets for Riot, noting the company is “building momentum.”
To further address compute bottlenecks, Anthropic signed a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with Lambda. Under this arrangement, Lambda will utilize data centers being developed by Hut 8 in Nueces County, Texas, to deploy Nvidia chips for Anthropic.
