Colombia advances major road and transit infrastructure projects
Colombia is advancing several major infrastructure and transport projects aimed at improving regional mobility. In Bogotá, the construction of the Avenida 68 TransMilenio trunk is over 88% complete, featuring 21 planned stations across 17 kilometers to connect various localities.
To alleviate congestion on major corridors like Calle 13 and Calle 80, a new inter-administrative agreement worth $21,036 million has been signed between Bogotá, Funza, and the Regional Mobility Agency (ARM). This funding will support feasibility studies for the Avenida La Esperanza connection, part of a regional airport circuit designed to improve logistics and passenger movement near El Dorado Airport.
Additionally, construction has begun on the ALO Sur, a 24.5-kilometer corridor connecting Sibaté, Soacha, and Bogotá. The project is expected to take four years to complete and aims to decongest the Autopista Sur.
In the department of Antioquia, the Governor's Office has proposed a new ordinance to fund five road corridors totaling 151.13 kilometers through a valorization scheme. These projects span the Oriente, Nordeste, Suroeste, and Urabá subregions.
